Improving Cellulite The term cellulite describes the dimpling “cottage cheese” appearance caused by loss of elasticity in the “tent strings” (fascia), which connect the skin’s top layer with the muscle layer. Caused by weight gain and/or aging, these dimples appear directly under the tent string attachments causing cellulite to be most visible on areas which include the buttocks (butt), hips (saddle bags), legs, thighs and arms. When the term cellulite was first popularized in the 1970’s, cellulite cures, remedies and cellulite control ran the gamut from diets and exercises designed to get rid of cellulite to cellulite machines, cellulite body wraps and numerous devices designed to rid cellulite by stretching the “tent strings” through the use of suction similar to a vacuum cleaner. Some of these anti-cellulite devices proved to be marginally effective. Still, improvement was never consistent, even with multiple treatments. Today, when a new generation of cellulite lasers makes it possible to improve tent string elasticity with infrared or radio frequency energy, there is an added benefit. Heat produced by this energy increases oxygen to the cells and thus increases the metabolism of stored energy, thereby shrinking the size of the over-inflated fat cell. Simultaneously, vacuum and specially designed rollers can be used to smooth out the skin and improve body contouring.   Cultura’s non-surgical, invasive and non-invasive cellulite reduction treatments can be performed on all skin colors and all skin types. At Cultura, there is zero downtime or recovery period associated with the procedure. Patients can return to regular daily activities immediately after each treatment. Cultura’s FDA-approved lasers and other treatments used to improve or decrease cellulite include: VelaSmooth, VelaShape, Titan, Aluma, Endomologie, Silhouette, Mesotherapy, Lipodissolve, Injection Lipolysis, Thermage, Smartlipo and Fraxel (fractional) lasers. For optimal results, 10 to 15 treatments are required spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart; each treatment lasts approximately 30 minutes. Because cellulite tends to form continuously, we recommend monthly or quarterly maintenance treatments to maintain these results. Cellulite treatment costs vary based on the cellulite treatment area. Discounted packages are also available.
