Now more and more women and men are appreciating that a facelift could be the answer for them. As we age, wrinkles, skin laxity, and jowls become increasingly prominent in the face and neck. A facelift elevates the soft tissues of the lower half of the face. More individuals today are taking advantage of the available cosmetic procedures to look young, and many people you know have probably already had face lifts.
The Procedure
Face lift surgery is usually done with general anesthesia and takes about four hours. Inconspicuous incisions in skin folds or hair bearing areas allow the adjacent skin to be separated from its underlying muscle. The skin and underlying muscles are tightened and then the excess skin is removed. The skin is sutured snugly in place, loose bandages are applied and the patient may return home the day of the surgery. Typically facelifts are performed using general anesthesia, in an outpatient facility or at a hospital.
After Surgery
Pain is minimal and relieved with oral medications for a day or two after the procedure. The night of the surgery patients may stay at an aftercare facility or have a friend stay with them at home. Patients usually feel woozy from the anesthesia.
There will be bulky bandages after the procedure, which will be removed the day after the procedure. Cultura may also place small drains under the skin, which are removed the day after surgery.
Cultura will remove some sutures at seven days and others at ten days after the surgery. Bruising and swelling subsides in seven to 14 days. The patient then will then be able to return to work and social situations but may be advised to avoid the sun for several weeks. It is important to limit your activities for several days, and not drive until your doctor gives you the go-ahead. It will probably be about two weeks before you can return to work.
Scars will fade considerably over time and are hidden by the hairline. A face lift can run between $5,000 and $6,300; results generally last 10 to 15 years.
Of course, as with any major medical procedure, there are certain risks, which should be discussed with a qualified physician.
Cultura accepts cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, and American Express. For your convenience, financing is also available. .

Who is a candidate for a face lift?
Pain is minimal and relieved with oral medications for a day or two after the procedure. Bruising and swelling subsides in seven to 14 days.
Most of the men and women who are candidates for a face lift are between the ages of forty-five and seventy. Of course there are exceptions and more consideration is given to the patients' actual appearance that their chronological age.
Some people today choose to have a face lift at a relatively young age as a form of preventive maintenance. Having the operation prior to pronounced signs of aging translates to more subtle results but allows one to maintain a youthful appearance with "tuck-up" procedures of the years.
Patients with less pronounced signs of aging are often candidates for a mini-lift.
All face lift patients must be in good health, physically and emotionally.

What is a mini-lift?
Individual surgeons may use the term mini-lift for different procedures, however in general, the term describes a procedure less invasive than a full facelift. The incision is shorter, and less tissue is manipulated. This translates in to shorter recovery time for the patient. The mini-lift procedure is indicated for patients with only early signs of sagging skin and is used as a form of preventive maintenance.

How long will the face lift last?
The improvement lasts between five and ten years. It does not prevent ongoing aging, but the person who has a face lift never looks as old as he or she would have if he or she had not had the operation. If the sagging appears again, an individual may have a tuck-up procedure, which can provide dramatic and long-lasting improvement

What if I don't want my face to be pulled too tight or look like I'm in a wind tunnel?
As with all cosmetic procedures, there have been considerable advancements in technique and goals. The contemporary surgeon is careful to avoid a drawn-back, operated look. The skin is not pulled tightly; instead it is repositioned so it does not hang off the face. Although the effects of the surgery are often dramatic, the goal is to achieve an elegant and natural appearance, helping patients look their best, not different.
