We maintain an impressive inventory of over 12 hair removal lasers, which enables us to treat you with the best laser that fits your skin color, skin sensitivity and hair characteristics. Cultura's co-founder, Dr. Eliot Battle, is considered one of the world's top laser hair removal experts. He spent two years at Harvard University doing laser hair removal research and clinical studies. Cultura performs more than 100 laser hair removal treatments a week and has been doing so for more than a decade. While most facilities perform hair removal with a "one size fits all" philosophy based on a single device, Cultura's doctors and practitioners can choose from a dozen different hair removal systems, including alexandrite, diode, Nd:YAG, and IPL. We tailor hair removal treatment plans to the unique needs of the patient by accounting for a variety of factors, including:
As Dr. Battle continues training physicians nationally and internationally in the use of lasers for hair epilation, he ensures that the staff at Cultura remains current in the latest hair removal tools, techniques, and procedures. "Permanent results can be achieved by combining skin expertise with the right laser and the right hair," said Dr. Battle.
We use laser hair removal to eliminate unwanted hair on various parts of the body. The most common areas treated are the face, underarms, arms, legs, and bikini line. The back, chest and stomach are also considered areas where laser hair removal may be beneficial for both men and women of all ages.
In addition to removing unwanted hair, our hair removal lasers can correct unwanted dark spots and texture changes that are caused by ingrown hairs. Cultura's patients who have problems with ingrown hair bumps are often as happy with the improvement in their skin's color and texture as they are with their permanent hair removal.
Laser hair removal treatments are often described as feeling like a very small rubber band popping on the skin—annoying, but not really painful. There is no lingering discomfort, so you will feel nothing once the treatment stops. See the table below for typical treatment times.
Treatment Area | Typical Treatment Time |
Full face and neck | 15 to 20 minutes |
Upper lip | 5 minutes |
Underarms and bikini lines | 10 to 15 minutes |
Legs | 30 to 45 minutes |
Because laser hair removal does not cause temporary skin changes, you can return to work or have lunch with friends or colleagues immediately after treatment without anyone knowing you were treated.
There is no recovery period, including no redness, swelling, or change in skin color.
In order to permanently destroy hair, a series of eight treatments is generally required. These treatments are spread out anywhere from three to eight weeks apart with the average being four to six weeks. The actual number of individual treatments required depends on the patient's hormone levels, hair type, hair characteristics and preference. With each consecutive treatment, your hair will be thinner in diameter and lighter in color. This is one of the reasons we have over 12 different hair removal lasers. As your hair changes, from darker and courser to lighter and thinner with each subsequent treatment, we will treat you with the laser that is most effective for your new hair characteristic. This allows us to always treat you with the best laser, regardless of your hair characteristics, skin color, ethnicity, or amount of suntan to ensure the best results possible.
We feel that Cultura is the perfect model for you to trust for your laser hair removal treatments. It is owned and operated by a dermatologist whose research at Harvard helped to create these new generation hair removal lasers. Dr. Battle spent more than two years of laser research at Harvard University focusing only on hair removal. His research helped to pioneer the ability to safely and effectively treat all skin colors regardless of ethnicity so that patients of color no longer have to resort to conventional methods, which can create dark spots and scars. For optimal laser hair removal results, it is crucial to choose your practitioner wisely. Because of their expertise, Dr. Battle and his staff have become trusted resources for patients who are dissatisfied and discontent with the results from laser hair removal at other practices. While most practices describe their procedures as "permanent hair reduction," Cultura has a worldwide reputation for "permanent hair removal." At Cultura, we take pride in our laser hair removal expertise.

FAQs | How Does It Work? Laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) devices send specific concentrated beams of light through the skin that are absorbed by the melanin (dark) pigment present in the hair follicle shafts. Because hair grows in cycles, repeated treatments are necessary to destroy the hair follicles. In general, three or more treatments are required to achieve permanent hair growth reduction. Will it work for me? Darker hair responds best to laser hair removal. Lighter-colored hair is least responsive, but topical medications can be used in an effort to increase effectiveness. Be sure to avoid tanning or sunless tanners and to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen for up to six weeks prior to treatment. Are there any side effects? The most common side effects include discomfort, swelling, and redness that last one to three days. Other possible side effects include blistering, herpes simplex outbreaks, bacterial infections and temporary skin lightening or darkening (especially in patients with skin of color or those with tans). Patients are instructed to avoid sun exposure and to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 30 or higher following the procedure. |

Typically six to twelve treatments about 4 to 6 weeks apart are needed to achieve 90% permanent hair loss. Why only 90%? The body will always continue to produce new hair follicles that were not around during your treatment. However, usually this will be a few strands of fine, fair, baby-like hair.
After years of dealing with man like razor bumps and course hair, I successfully have a smooth lady-like chin that I'm no longer embarrassed about.
I ABSOLUTELY Love the experience I had with the Laser Hair Removal process. Easy and painless. I made all my appointments during my lunch break and having Dr. Lowe do my treatments made things that much smoother. I plan on revisiting the office soon.
